blood rare rib eye
Following my eggs I ate a steak maybe 30 minutes or 1 hour later. This was a rib steak which cost $7 ($14 for 2). It was around $12/kg so this is around 500-600 grams of meat and while the picture is not very clear you can see the wonderful marbling. $12/kg is around $5.45 per lb, on sale because it had been sitting in the grocery store for a while I guess.
Here is my preparation :
First I let it warm slowly on the counter for around 1.5 hours. I eat my steaks 'blood rare' and if I do not let it come to room temperature it will be cold in the middle and while this is not a big deal it does slightly spoil the experience. I think anywhere from 30 minutes - 2 hours is fine for this process, although I have also read there are some concerns with regards to bacterial contamination (or something else? spoiling?) if you leave it for more than an hour. I'm not too worried. I also seasoned the steak with freshly ground pepper.
Then I heated up half a table spoon? (rough estimate) of tallow in my stainless steel frying pan on max heat. I waited until the tallow was smoking and then fried the steak for around 1 minute on each side. It turned out absolutely perfect.
eggs!
And I will follow it up with a steak shortly. I'm just really happy that I finally got my eggs right. Here's what I did :
butter in pan. 1 table spoon? 1.5 table spoons? Not sure.
Heated on medium for a couple minutes (until butter was bubbling... maybe wait for smoking?). During this time I broke 3 eggs into a bowl (this is so that if you get any egg shells in your eggs you can just take them out from cold bowl instead of hot pan).
Then I cooked, covered, for around 4-5 minutes. Turned out perfectly over easy.
Might try letting the pan heat up a little more next time.
zero carb 60 days later
so I think it has been almost 60 days now of zero carb. Yesterday I had a lot of bullet proof coffee (coffee + butter blended), a lot of lamb chops (one whole package, blood rare, seasoned with pepper) and some eggs (6?). Unfortunately so far I have not experienced the weight loss which I desire. I just weighed myself right now @ 207.6 (and a couple days ago was between 212-215). A week or two ago I was @ 201.5-205 fairly consistently. I suspect my recent weight gain was attributed to cream cheese and normal cheese, although my heavy coffee drinking might also be to blame. It is also possible that the theory that your body cannot store dietary fat as fat is inaccurate as of course I was engaging in heavy consumption of dietary fat as is suggested on a zero carb diet. I also had a few packs of bacon around this time which may also have had some effect.
My present course is simply coffee, eggs and very rare ovine / bovine and butter. This is basically where I was when I was stable just over 200, so hopefully this will bring me back there. Unfortunately I was not weighing myself for most of this experiment so we'll see.
Another potential problem in my present lifestyle is a lack of exercise. Yesterday I was very active but today I am paying a very small price in my nerve damaged foot. I might be more sedentary today, to heal / recover, and not leave my apartment and spend all day on my computer and cleaning. Later I will have steak and eggs (4pm?). So far today I have just had the coffee with butter. I used 'a lot' of butter, although I didn't measure it. Maybe 50-100grams and also a bunch of ground coffee and 8 cups? of water.
I woke up pretty early today. I have been feeling the odd bout of hunger lately, which I think means that I am no longer keto adapted, perhaps on account of my recent cream cheese binge. I am not going to purchase any more cream cheese. I need to get out of the habit of eating during the last 3 hours of my day. Probably I will go to bed around midnight or 1am, so I need to have my last meal around 8pm at the latest. So I will eat 1 steak & eggs @ 3 pm and 1 steak and eggs @ 7 pm. That should be good. And I will clean and do stuff on my comp all day, and then perhaps tomorrow I will do some more shopping featuring a long walk for exercise. My place is a disaster and requires several hours of intensive deep cleaning. So far I have picked up a little today but not much.

day 4 :
I really think i can save a lot of money eating only meat. I got these pork chops in bulk, and they were super cheap ($4 something a pound). They are amazing too. Cooked two of them last night, seasoned and soaked in olive oil. soooo goood. haven't eaten yet today, woke up around 8 am. probably going to eat 2 porkchops soon. probably have 2 pork chops for lunch too. also dethawing some ribs. feeling awesome today. high energy, did some good cleaning, sweeping mostly. made a couple youtube videos. wasted a lot of time on facebook. was strangely hungry and nauseous at the same time this morning, but the hunger faded quickly. im not hungry now.

day 3 : carnivore diet
Today I woke up at 7 am or so. Feeling alright. The big burners on my stove aren't working so I tried to fix them and caused a very mild explosion but luckily that seems to have settled down. I cooked this inside round steak last night, but it was very tough, i will have to braise it today (came in pack of two). I plan to eat two steaks today, an inside round and a t-bone. I guess I will dethaw some chops too. Over all liking this diet so far!

a new new day, a new new plan
today is the second day on my 30 day carnivore journey. i went to the grocery store, bought 3 x bulk chops @ $4 / lb, plus a bunch of steaks. had salmon for lunch (skipped breakfast). Just the salmon fillet. cooked it for 4 minutes on medium hi, flipped, then brioefly on medium high then reduced and covered for 5 minutes. absolutely phenomenal! sooo delicious. i immediately regretted not buying more salmon. feeling very energetic right now and really looking forward to this experiment. yesterday i ate 9 eggs and a pack of bob's bacon. bob has some weird misshapen bacon. i will probably eat a steak later on today, depending on hunger. just drinking distilled water also.
